Big, bold flavours, eclectic design and a comfortable yet energetic feel "- this describes not only Bin 941 and Bin 942 but also their owner, Executive Chef Gord Martin. First a vocalist, then a chef and now a "closet" restaurant designer, Gord combines his life-loves with his work. And not only that, but Martin started a craze with Bin 941 Tapas Parlour that has taken over the West Coast.
Before opening Bin 941 in June 1998, Chef Martin worked at some of Vancouver's finest restaurants, including the Century Grill, Raincity Grill, Allegro and the Wedgewood Hotel. He studied his craft at Dubrulle Culinary School, but it was during his travels through Europe that his passion for food was born. Although jazz is the featured music on the menu at the Bins, Gord's roots are in rock and roll from an earlier incarnation as lead singer. As the Bard himself wrote, "If music be the food of love, play on!
Chef Gordon Martin created "The Bins" to reflect New York-styled wine bars uniquely designed for the Vancouver milieu. Featuring open kitchens, window banquets and a spectacular selection of wines, craft beers and tantalizing tapas, the Bins invite patrons to enjoy the action inside and out.
