Fewer people on the road during the Olympics led to a drop in claims for ICBC. Adam Grossman with the insurance company says the numbers look good, even after thousands of visitors flooded the province during the Winter Games. "Our preliminary numbers indicate there were approximately 20 per cent fewer claims reported during the 2010 Winter Games than for the same time period in 2009." Grossman says the drop in claims can be attributed to the many people using transit over the two-week period. He also says the downtown road closures during the Winter Games forced many people to rethink their travel options as well.
