8 injured in crash on Vancouver bridge March 21, 2008 |
Eight people were taken to hospital following a major traffic accident on a busy Metro Vancouver bridge Friday morning. The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. and shut down all lanes on the Lions Gate Bridge that connects North Vancouver and the downtown core for more than an hour, police said.
The eight people — some with serious injuries — were directed to three area hospitals, said Christi Hillen, a spokeswoman for BC Ambulance Service. "We ended up transporting eight patients in total. Five of those patients were transported on a route basis to hospital. Three patients were transported on an emergency basis," Hillen said Friday. The cause of the collision is still being investigated.
