Simon Fraser Elementary School combines the old with the new.
Our present school building was built in 1981 and was one of the first fully wheelchair accessible schools in Vancouver. Our full sized gymnasium/auditorium is the only remaining part of the original 1909 school.
Our student population reflects the modern Canadian mosaic. Many of the families have been in Canada for generations while others have come to Canada only recently. The diversity of our school population encourages everyone to embrace the challenge of new ideas.
Fraser School has a population of approximately 200 students from full day Kindergarten to grade seven. Approximately thirty percent of the students speak English as their second language. We successfully integrate a number of special needs children into our school community.
The school enjoys a rich heritage of traditional values combined with the best of recent educational research, such as the early and family literacy programs.
