Our student population fluctuates between 215 and 230 students. Approximately 20% of the students have English as a second language and over 20 language groups are represented. False Creek has an Open Area floor plan, built around a central, large, and well-supplied Library Resource Centre. The school has nine classroom areas. Our full-sized gym is used for evening programs by Vancouver School Board Rentals and the False Creek Community Centre.
Parent involvement is encouraged in many areas: Safe arrival program, family events and activities, noon hour clubs, classroom and field trip assistance, fund-raising, and membership in our Parent Advisory Council and School Planning Council.
The school first opened in January, 1977 as an annex to Cecil Rhodes Elementary. By September, it was moved to rented premises, was named Landbridge, and became an annex of Henry Hudson. Construction of the present building was completed in 1978 and the school was renamed False Creek. The school's playground is Parks Board land, along the beautifully landscaped False Creek Walkway.
