Cunningham |
The school was named after George T. Cunningham (1889-1965) who was a lifelong resident and businessman of Vancouver. He founded Cunningham Drug Store and built it into a 52 store chain. The company later became Shoppers Drug Mart. Mr. Cunningham was very community minded. He was an alderman for two terms and a member of the Vancouver School Board and the Board of Governors of British Columbia for 30 years. George T. Cunningham Elementary School was officially opened in November 1966.
Cunningham enrolls approximately 550 students from a variety of backgrounds originating in more than 24 different countries. It is truly a multicultural school where diversity is valued.
