Captain Cook School enrolls a diverse multi-ethnic, multi-lingual student population of 500 students in Kindergarten to Grade Seven. Students are characterized by staff, parents, and visitors as motivated, responsible, courteous, and highly involved. The majority exhibit positive self-esteem, demonstrate concern for the well-being of others and willingly provide service to the school both formally and informally. Staff are caring, hardworking, collaborative, skilled and good humoured. Parents demonstrate a keen interest in their children's education and give generously of their time and resources to support curricular and extra-curricular activities.
In addition to attending to the Annual District Goals, we place emphasis on: ensuring a safe, secure environment in which adults and children are respected and respectful (zero tolerance for violence policy), developing literacy skills that empower students as analytical readers and expressive writers, developing aesthetic awareness and environmental sensitivity to enhance personal expression and social responsibility.
