Bayview opened its doors on August 24th, 1914 with an enrollment of 174 students. An extension was added to the existing building in 1929 and major renovations to modernize the building took place between 1956 and 1962. The outdoor play area was originally developed in 1971 and underwent major renovations in 1990. Bayview was designated as Vancouver's first Community School in 1973. Bayview has always been an integral part of the Kitsilano area - encouraging and supporting community involvement.
We have regular meetings of parents, staff, community residents and agency representatives for the purpose of identifying local needs, promoting an exchange of ideas, providing feedback in areas of local concern and participating in decision making.
