Plaza of Nations |
Built by the government of BC, the Plaza of Nations was the heart of the 203-acre 1986 World Exposition. Expo '86 established Vancouver as a world-class city by inviting the world to its doorstep. This impressive world's fair featured fifty-two participating nations, provinces, territories, and states, and more than 22 million visitors from around the globe attended the events over 5 months. The Plaza of Nations remains a permanent legacy of Expo '86 and has been privately owned since 1990.
An architectural marvel, the Plaza of Nations complex is Vancouver's most unique convention and reception facility. With over 140, 000 sq. ft of indoor/outdoor exhibit and performance space, the Plaza of Nations plays host to numerous diverse events annually ranging from intimate cocktail parties for 100 guests to trade shows and cultural festivals that attract hundreds of thousands of people. The Plaza of Nations is perfectly suited for a wide range of events including trade shows and conventions, festivals and fairs, galas and fundraisers, outdoor concerts, product launches, corporate and media events, as well as banquets, parties, and receptions.
Adjacent BC Place and GM Place Stadiums, The Plaza of Nations is situated in an area fast becoming known as the entertainment cornerstone of the Lower Mainland. We are proximate to the downtown core, the financial district, as well as various shopping and entertainment venues. A number of high end and quality hotels are located nearby and we are conveniently accessible by both car and Vancouver public transit.
To further enhance the image of the Plaza of Nations as a world-class convention centre, a 600-room luxury hotel on the property is to be developed in the near future.
